Library Card Registration

Upon successful registration, we will provide a digital library barcode which will allow you to access some of our online resources — including OverDrive for downloading e-books, and e-audiobooks and Magazines.

I hereby apply for borrowing privileges at all Halifax Public Libraries branches. I agree to be responsible for the materials borrowed on my library card and to abide by the rules and regulations of Halifax Public Libraries.

As the parent or legal guardian of the above named applicant and I hereby apply for borrowing privileges on his/her behalf. I understand that I am responsible for my child's use of any Halifax Public Libraries' services or facilities, including the borrowing of materials and the use of Library computers and the Internet. I agree to abide by the rules and regulations of Halifax Public Libraries and to take full responsibility for materials borrowed on this card.

Please note: If you’ve had a library card in the past and apply for a new account, in most cases your old account will be removed from our system and replaced with the newly created one. This will delete any requests or holds you had on your old account, including those placed in Overdrive.

* Online registrations made from locations from outside of Canada cannot be submitted and must be processed manually.
